Where are our shirts made?

All our shirts are designed at our HQ in Amsterdam and made in our atelier in Hanoi, Vietnam.

How sustainable is our product?

At ShirtbyHand we constantly strive to be sustainable. All our fabric suppliers have to comply to strict rules in order to be able to produce. All the chemicals and other liquids used to process our fabrics have to be regenerated for a 100%. In this case, the Reach and Ökotex certificates are followed. Our supplier, Tootal Fabrics, has been working with a small amount of cotton and fabric producers whom they visit frequently in order to guarantee the production is fair and the workers are treated well. Also, all our fabric scraps are recycled and brought to a charity.

What are the working conditions in our atelier?

The ShirtbyHand workshop consists of 60 staff who all have excellent working conditions (air-conditioning, new machines and plenty of work space). Our colleagues have a 45 hour working week, get paid for overtime and our youngest colleague is 19 years old. Their salary is 20% higher than the industry standard. Due to the excellent working conditions and competitive salaries we are able to retain the best people in the region. Also in Vietnam our customers are more than welcome to visit us.

Where are we based?

The ShirtbyHand office is based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. From these headquarters we contact our customers, we process the orders and manage our tailors in Vietnam.

What is the difference between the weaves?

Using only the most comfortable materials, our shirts are made of 100% cotton with a two-ply weave, resulting in even more durability. Continuously sourcing and testing fabrics, we guarantee quality at all times.

• Plain Weave: This fabric has little to no structure, hence it feels very light and smooth.
• (Royal) Oxford: This classic weave is known for its fine basket-weave structure and luxurious look.
• (Fine) Twill weave: The fabric is known for its diagonal weave and soft shine.
• Pima Cotton: Due to its extra long fiber – produced in the United States – PIMA cotton is not only very lightweight and soft but also strong and sturdy. Next to that, the subtle shine of the fabric conveys a feeling of luxury.
• Denim : A heavier weave with a genuine denim look and feel.
• Linen: The two threads that run separated from each other cause the recognizable airy linen structure.
• Premium: There are moments that ask for a little extra. ShirtbyHand Premium is just that: a shirt with a sense of luxury and a golden touch. For our Premium shirts, the fabric is woven with a longer and finer cotton threat. Hence the fabrics has a soft and slight silkier touch.

Are all our fabrics easy to iron?

All our fabrics are easy to iron, wash and dry-clean without compromising on the quality. Keeping your shirt in shape should be effortless and efficient. That’s why we work with a finish that makes all of our shirts easy to iron and easy to take care of.

How does the perfect fit guarantee work?

We always strive for 100% satisfaction. If you have any complains about your shirt or sizes, let us know via e-mail or chat. We will always make sure that you are 100% satisfied with your order. If you would like to update your measurements please chat or email us and we will update your online account for you. Small changes can also be made online in your personal measurements. Once this is completed you can proceed with a new order.

What is our return policy? 

Since our shirts are tailored our return policy is slightly different than the policies you are used to. 
However, if the shirts does not fit your wishes and sizes we will make a shirt free of charge. You have up to 90 days to let us know. If you have any complains about your shirt or sizes, let us know. We will always make sure that you are 100% satisfied with your order. If you would like to update your measurements please chat or email us and we will update your online account for you. Small changes can also be made online in your personal measurements. Once this is completed you can proceed with a new order.

Can I trace my order? 

Yes, once an order is placed you will receive a Track and Trace code to follow your parcel.

How long will it take before I receive my order? 

All shirts are delivered to your door within 3 weeks. Our tailors hand cut and sew your shirt exclusively to your sizes and personal details. None of our shirts are made from a standard pattern.

To which countries do we ship?

We ship worldwide.

Are there shipping costs? 

Within Scandinavia the shipping costs are complementary. However, for the rest of the world we do charge shipping costs. (amount is depending on the country)

How does our Algorithm work?

At Shirtbyhand we compiled an Algorithm that takes into consideration 30.000 patterns from different body types of our database. Through 4 questions we should be able to determine your sizes with a near perfect accuracy. Should you be unfortunate that the shirt does not fit, we will make you a new one free of charge.

What is the difference between the types of personal fit?

The Fitted model is the most tailored and fitted shirt we offer. 

• Semi-Fitted shirts are slightly less fitted hence we will add a bigger margin to your sizes. This way the shirt will have a looser fit.
• Normal; this fit is not fitted and offers a wide fit. Every size will be enlarged for a more comfortable and loose fit.

Are my sizes stored and how do I re-order? 

Once you have placed and order with us, your sizes are stored in our system and in your personal account. You can re-order on the same sizes or tweak your sizes before ordering again.
